Every vendor of solar software shows a clean dashboard in a demo. The difference shows up three months later, when an application has waited too long, a DISCOM has rejected a file, GST has changed and a new technician is on the roof with a weak signal. These ten questions put each vendor, including us, in front of those moments before you pay. Ask them in the demo and ask to see the answer on screen, not on a slide.
1. Show me a PM Surya Ghar application that has waited too long. What does the owner see?
Why it matters. An MNRE notice to registered vendors (MNRE notice, 24 Aug 2026) advises against keeping an application for more than 60 days without a valid reason. A list of applications is not enough; the owner needs to see age.
Raymitra's answer today. One row per application with its portal stage and days in that stage; amber at 45 days, our own early warning, and red at 60.
2. Show me a rejected net-meter application. Where does the reason live, and how is it resubmitted?
Why it matters. Rejections for documents, SLD, sanctioned load or the inverter list are routine. If the reason sits in a chat, the resubmission depends on one person's memory.
Raymitra's answer today. A rejection is a state on the record with its reason, the fix and the resubmission date.
3. Make a 3 kW quote. Which GST does it carry, and where is that rate set and dated?
Why it matters. GST on rooftop solar is split between goods and services and has changed by notification. A tool with one flat rate typed in years ago quotes the wrong number on every job.
Raymitra's answer today. 70% goods at 5% and 30% services at 18%, a blended 8.9%, from a table dated 22 Sep 2025; each quote keeps the rate it used.
4. Where does the subsidy on the quote come from, and does it include my state's top-up?
Why it matters. Central slabs and state top-ups change by order. A subsidy figure with no date or source is a promise to the customer that the installer cannot back.
Raymitra's answer today. Central subsidy from the MNRE guidelines in a dated table, plus the top-up rule for 16 states, each with its source; a state with no top-up shows zero.
5. Who loads my price book and templates, and how long does it take?
Why it matters. The most common complaint about solar software is being left alone after payment with an empty system.
Raymitra's answer today. Setup is done for you: we import your sheet, load your price book and templates and send your first quote with you on a call. ₹5,000 once, free for the first 20 customers.
6. Run the site survey on a cheap Android phone with a weak signal.
Why it matters. Surveys happen on rooftops and in lanes where the signal drops. A form that loses photos costs a second visit.
Raymitra's answer today. The survey takes roof, meter and bill photos, sanctioned load and a GPS fix; photos and forms wait on the phone and upload when the signal returns.
7. Are the screens in Hindi and Gujarati today, or on a roadmap?
Why it matters. Owners, sales staff and site engineers do not all read the same language. A roadmap item does not help your team this season.
Raymitra's answer today. Hindi, Gujarati and English today, chosen by each person.
8. Is the price published? Per user or per company? Do technicians count?
Why it matters. Unpublished prices and per-seat charges for every technician make the real cost hard to compare.
Raymitra's answer today. Every plan and term is on the pricing page, per user who quotes or manages; technician and crew logins are free and unlimited.
9. Can I start a trial without a demo call, and take my data out any time?
Why it matters. A trial you can start tonight tells you more than a demo someone else drives. Export is your exit.
Raymitra's answer today. A 14-day trial with no card, started from the site; leads, quotes and applications export at any time.
10. How is my firm's data kept apart from other firms' data, and what happens to Aadhaar numbers?
Why it matters. Installers hold consumers' Aadhaar, bank and electricity-bill details for the subsidy. The DPDP Act 2023 applies.
Raymitra's answer today. Row-level security in the database keeps each firm's records apart; Aadhaar numbers are never stored in full, only the last four digits and the document.
How to test any vendor in one week
A demo answers the vendor's questions; a week on your own data answers yours. If a vendor offers a trial, or will set up a trial company for you, this is a plan that fits around site visits:
- Day 1. Import twenty real enquiries from your sheet, including two that went cold. Note how long the import takes and who did it.
- Day 2. Load your price book for one panel and one inverter you actually sell, and make a 3 kW and a 5 kW quote. Check the subsidy, the state top-up and the GST line by line against your own last invoice.
- Day 3. Give the phone to the person who does surveys. Ask them to complete one survey on a real roof with mobile data switched off for part of it.
- Day 4. Enter five live PM Surya Ghar applications with their real stage dates. Look at what the owner sees the next morning, without anyone explaining it.
- Day 5. Raise one invoice from an accepted quote and record an advance. Then export everything you entered and open the file.
Three things in that week are worth more than any feature list: whether the person on the roof finished the survey without calling the office, whether the owner understood the morning view without a walkthrough, and whether the export opened cleanly. A system that passes those three will still be in use in six months.

Questions
What is solar EPC software?
Software for a solar engineering, procurement and construction firm: leads and quotes, the subsidy and net-meter paperwork, installs, money and service. Some products cover design or stock too.
Should I ask for a demo or a trial?
Both if you can. A demo shows what the vendor chooses; a trial on your own leads shows what your team will actually do on a Monday.
Where can I see how Raymitra compares with a product I already know?
On the compare pages: each answers the same nine questions for both products, with every fact about the other product taken from its own site and dated.
No card needed. Technician logins always free.
