How solar gets approved in the UAE.

Northern Emirates: Etihad Water and Electricity
Distributed solar systems under Federal Decree-Law No. 17 of 2022.
- The connection conditions implement Federal Decree-Law No. 17 of 2022 on connecting distributed renewable generation to the grid. - The customer relies on an Approved Contractor, authorised by Etihad Water and Electricity, for design, installation, connection, operation and maintenance. - After both approvals and the installation: a connection application, inspection and testing before interconnection, smart meters (after the connection fees are paid), testing after interconnection, then a Permit to Operate. - The system goes on a rooftop at the premises of the account it connects to. Its maximum capacity is that account's connected load times 10 percent, and never more than 1,000 kW. The industrial factor excludes industrial customers on a preferential discounted tariff from EtihadWE. The authority may revise the limits. Abu Dhabi: Department of Energy
A February 2026 policy, in phases. We found no detailed procedure document.
- The February 2026 policy covers distributed solar, with or without a battery, in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It states principles, and says the connection process, metering, settlement and the application and approval steps would be set in separate guidelines the Department would issue. - A second phase extends it to the residential sector, covering villa owners and residential buildings where applicable, with a simplified regulatory framework for installation and grid connection procedures. Does Raymitra file my grid-connection application?
No. The approval overview on this page is for reading, from the authorities' own documents. Raymitra does not file, track or promise approvals in the UAE.
Which language and currency?
English. The prices on this page are in dirhams; the app itself shows rupees today.
